I came across this recently and thought, "Wow! Whatta cool idea!"
So what do you get when photographers team up with Canon to show the creative possibilities of the new line of HD capable pro still cameras?
A really cool project bringing together a vast array of photographers telling stories from their point of view.
Here's the deal: a still photograph is made and photographer writes and films a story around it for a "chapter" in a bigger story. They end their film on a still photograph from which the next photographer picks up the story interpreting the still and ending their film on a still and so on and so on. This video explains it pretty well:
The Story Beyond the Still "The Cabbie" - Behind The Scenes from Vincent Laforet on Vimeo.
Here's the first chapter:
Chapter 1: The Cabbie from Vincent Laforet on Vimeo.
I just sat and watched all the chapters and love how each photographer has picked up the storyline. I have to say, this also makes me jealous that I have the older 5D pre-HD capable. How fun would it be to participate!
The group on Vimeo also has all the submissions that didn't make it and that's were it really gets interesting see all the variations of the story.
If you've got a Canon HD capable camera and have always fancied yourself a filmmaker, join the fun here. Submissions for Chapter 5 has just closed and judging starts soon. Subscribe to the group to find out when Chapter 6 submissions will be accepted.
Hope you're having a great week so far!
Until next time,
